Welcome to the 2008 Berthoud Historical Society Town Calendar. This year
our images celebrate the Berthoud Historic Commercial District, envisioned
by the Berthoud Preservation Commission, and adopted by them in
September of 2007.

The Berthoud Historic Commercial District is bounded by 3rd Street on the
East, 4th Street on the West, Massachusetts on the North, and Welch
Avenue
on the South.

The Berthoud Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) was established on
March 13, 2002 by a Town of Berthoud ordinance, and has "…principal
responsibility for matters of historical preservation designation of historic
sites and districts within the municipal boundaries of the Town of
Berthoud."

The Berthoud Historical Society's photographic collection consists of about
3,000 images and is growing. The collection is housed and cared for by
museum staff at the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum. Images in
our
collection vary from the late 1880's through the 1930's, but also include
more recent photographs like our contemporary (2002 -2006) farm
photographs.

The photos capture the rich history of Berthoud as shown in streets
scenes, the faces of residents, shop interiors, schools, parades, agriculture
and more. We welcome researchers and copies of the photographs in our
collection are also available for purchase.
