The Berthoud Historical Society was established in 1977 with a mission to discover and
preserve the
history of the town of Berthoud, the Little Thompson Valley area, Colorado and the
surrounding
region to enable current and future generations to learn about the area's original and
ongoing
development. The Berthoud Historical Society's Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum in
downtown
Berthoud is dedicated to preserving the region's heritage through interpretative exhibits
and events that include; but are not limited to, an annual historic home tour, spring and fall
lecture series, and an interpretive history summer day camp at the Meadow Hollow school
house.

The Berthoud Historical Society is launching the
Forge the Future for Our Past capital
campaign
to fund future expansion, help with much needed renovations to current facilities, and
enhance our capacity through an endowment fund so we can increase our level of service to
the Northern Colorado community,
and sustain the growth of the Little Thompson Pioneer Museum,

Campaign goals

Acquire additional building
Overcrowded museum buildings, no workshop to create exhibits, deficient storage and
collection preservation and inadequate public facilities are the driving factors in our launch of
the Forge the Future for Our Past campaign. Our intent is to acquire an additional building.

Renovations
Existing exhibits require updating and with new facilities this will be possible as we revise
the
usage of our museum space. Renovations are planned for the Bimson Blacksmith Shop,
Carlson Building,
Bimson Barn, Meining Homestead Cabin, and the Museum backyard.

New building construction
Improve and expand museum facilities by constructing a new building. A public research
library, collections storage, workshop, archives, offices, conference room and museum store
are to be included.

Endowment Fund
Interest generated through the endowment will provide lasting support for the ongoing
needs of
the Berthoud Historical Society and the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum.
