Preserving the heritage of the Little Thompson Valley is the charge of the Berthoud
Historical Society, which operates the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum at
226 Mountain Avenue in Berthoud. The museum occupies the former
Blacksmith Shop of A.G. Bimson and the Carlson Building annex. The 1893 Bimson
building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum is dedicated to preserving
Berthoud's past through interpretive exhibits, school tours, lecture series,
historic home tours, and a vintage base ball team.

Located in the shadow of northern Colorado's 14,000-foot Longs Peak, the historic
Little Thompson Valley winds its way eastward through rocky foothills to the plains
that in 1820 Major Stephen H. Long named the Great American Desert.
Once home to the Native American, trapper, cattleman, and homesteader,
the Little Thompson Valley is nestled along Colorado's majestic
Front Range 45 miles north of Denver, Colorado.

Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum hours are from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.
Wednesday through Sunday or by appointment.

Group tours may be scheduled in advance.
